Here is a photo taken in 1915 of William Pinkney White and some of his family, at the famous “rock house” on Frazier Creek. I’ve added the picture to the story of the Rock Creek House in the Atnip Family Stories Vol 2 located HERE

From left: Nellie (Luttes) Atnip-White, William Pinkney White and his first wife Sarah (Russell) White. Standing is Samuel White and Mollie (White) Waltman. The lady to the right I believe is Cora (White) Levart.

William Pinkney White (1845-1930), the grandson of pioneer Obediah Twidwell and the son of John L. White and Martha Ann “Patsy” (Twidwell) was the original owner of the home.

(Atnip Lineage: Obediah Twidwell-Elizabeth Cannady / John Luke White-Martha Ann Twidwell / Andrew Loan Ownbey-Nancy Jane White / John Robert Atnip-Melissa Jane Ownbey / Orley Eugene Atnip-Eva Mae Davis).

  1. Steve,
This is great. I’ve read so many times how the Atnip and Twidwell families intermingled several times in our history, but had not seen this photo before. Very interesting. Thanks, Steve

  2. I know that Uncle Pink White built the rock house and I know my Grandparents owned it in the in the 40’s or early 50″s. Does anyone know the history of who else owned it. I am the granddaughter of James Twidwell and Rowena Atnip-Twidwell. Daughter of Orville Davis and Beulah Twidwell-Davis.
